2nd year Junior here . . . Indoor Track is coming up.

I PR'd 9'6'' last year

But still don't know how to bend.

My weight is 155lb and my height is 5'10''

and I use a 165lb pole approx. 15ft

Does bending come naturally? I once attempted to bend . . . but when i felt the energy from the pole come back to me in mid air, I fell back to the ground.

Right handed so I jump to the right of the pole, my right hand was about 16inces from the top of the pole itself.

I don't know what happened.

I would like to bend this coming season and hopefully get 12ft.

Is there a special way to bend?

Any help would be very cool.

You have to learn how to pole vault. The sport is not pole bending it's pole vaulting.

Don't worry about whether or not the pole is bending, worry about trying to jump higher than your handgrip on the pole. The pole will bend when you have adequate technique and the right sized pole. Right now you do not have either one, and will probably hurt yourself if you focus on trying to bend the pole.

Learn how to plant and take off. Search through this website, www.beginnertobubka.com, look at videos on neovault.com and stabhoch.com, read, study, learn, analyze, and duplicate it on the runway. You shouldn't ever try to bend the pole - it's a natural by-product of doing everything else right and being on the right size pole.

Rainbowgirl28 and lonstar

That's exactly what i needed to hear.

I want to thank you both very much.

And when this new Indoor season comes up, I will not focus on bending, rather perfect my current skill vaulting past 9'6''

Again, many thanks!
