looks like you're "flagging" the pole (that's from ladyvolspvcoach ;) )....I know I do the same thing...personally, as soon as i see the bar, i drop my legs....which means i'm looking at the bar (bad)....

Maybe that doesn't help...but I feel ya!!

Tough to make a call on one photo

Tough to make a call on one photo. But it looks like you may be holding too high.
Which keeps your hips from getting above your hand grip. Just by reducing the grip your pole pendulum shortens a bit and you will increase the swing pendulum and be in a better position to receive the energy from the pole. Just by altering this one thing you can turn the push off to a better angle for your jumps. I am only talking about 1 fist reduction which will stiffen the pole by 1.1 lbs per inch so you also will need ot drive the box when you do this.
I love the PV, it is in my DNA

flagging

LHSpolevault in your avatar you have been successful in getting the pole to vertical. That indicates that your grip doesn't have to change. It looks like you are not focused on the mechanics of the vault and are trying to jump the bar and not vault!!!!!!! You are probably not using your arms completely through your swinging motion and are reaching for the bar instead. I hope this is helpful....

The previous posts are all good here are some more specific things that I think you could work on. In no specific order:
1. Notice how your right leg is going behind your left leg. To help hold your legs up and to initiate your turn better you should try and cross your right leg over/infront of our left leg previous to this sequence as you are extending up the pole. This will allow you to turn earlier and go up the pole better.
2. It also looks to me that as you got into your extension phase of the vault you did not colapse your bottom and started pulling with your top arm too early. Instead you should drop your shoulders hang from your top arm and colapse your bottom arm thus lining up with the pole. I always tell my vaulters its like a teeter toter(see saw), If you want your feet to go up, your shoulders/head must go down first and since we are head centered beings we tend to want to lead with our heads which in the extension phase of the vault results in flagging out and a position that looks like your Avitar. Hope my analysis makes sense to you and helps.

thank you so much for the feedback, and after just analyzing the clips that i had taken today from vaults... i realized my bottom (left) arm collapses right away when i plant... my swing is decent but could be better, however, as i try to get inverted, i do not drop my shoulders and have a much harder time becoming completely vertical which just allows my legs to be vertical and my body to be horizontal... and i end up looking at the bar, and that results in me trying to throw my legs over it, almost scissor kicking my way over the bar with a really really late turn lol. WOW!

-try saying that in one breath ;)
