St. Elizabeth's Doerhoff wins pole vault state championship

Having already clinched the state title in the Class 1 girls pole vault by tying her career best of 9-0 in the event, St. Elizabeth's Katie Doerhoff began her approach toward the pit with dreams of bettering the mark.
The only problem? There was an unexpected obstruction in her path.
Thanks to a clueless reporter who wandered into her path, Doerhoff had to stop before drilling him with her pole. And by the time she was able to refocus and take another attempt, the moment had passed.
But the odd occurrence couldn't dampen Doerhoff's excitement of becoming a state champion.
