CENTRALIA - Moberly High School senior Amy Kennison earned two first place medals Tuesday, and tied a new school track record in the pole vault to help the Lady Spartans track team finish fifth competing at the Centralia Girls Track Relays.
Kennison, a Class 3 state track championship qualifier last year, cleared 10'6 in the pole vault for first place and her accomplishment tied a Moberly school record said girls track coach Carma Smith. In addition, Kennison won the triple jump yesterday with a leap of 34-01.5 ft.
Last year at the state championships Kennison was 9th in the pole vault and cleared the bar at 9'-06, which is 1-ft. lower than what she accomplished at Centralia yesterday.
“Amy is having a very good year so far and has placed well during her meets. She is good for about 20 points for the team each time we compete,â€Â
