Dave Fritz, Suhr Sports Pole Vault
Dave Fritz has been a pole vault coach with Suhr Sports located in Rochester NY since 2002. He has assisted Head Coach Rick Suhr in producing top level pole vaulters at the high school, collegiate, and elite levels over the past few years. In the past 3 years, he has helped lead Suhr Sports athletes to 6 major national titles, and produced the the top 2 highest all-time prep female vaulters in the nation, Mary Saxer (High School Indoor National Record Holder in the girls pole vault, 14'3"), and Tiffany Maskulinski (High School Outdoor National Record Holder in the girls pole vault 14'0"). He is currently working with 2005 USA Indoor/2006 Outdoor National Champion, Jennifer Stuczynski (adidas, 15' 4.25"). As an athlete Dave Fritz competed Division I at Virginia Tech where he led the Big East indoors his senior year and earned many All-Big East honors.
Russ Ebbets, USATF Niagara President and Editor of Track Coach
Among several duties Russ Ebbets is the President of the Niagara Association. He will present his very popular "29 Secrets of Track and Field" that he has gain in his 40 years of involvement in the sport as an athlete, coach, administrator, journalist and health care provider.
A 2005 Oyster Bay High School Athletic Hall of Fame inductee he starred in track and field and basketball. He attended Villanova University and graduated from Union College in Schenectady where he held the school record in the mile. He continued to compete at the Empire State Games competitions in the open and masters events where he set records in the sub-masters division 800m and 4x800 relay.
As a coach his high school teams (Bishop Gibbons and Shenendehowa) amassed a 38-1 dual meet record that included four league championships and one Section 2 team championship in cross country. His collegiate program at Union College produced the 1981 NYS NCAA Women’s Cross-Country Champions in addition to two individual national champions.
Over the last decade he has served in the administration of USATF Niagara in various capacities from committee chair to vice president. For seven years he served as Executive Vice President of USATF-Adirondack and was instrumental in the creation of a number of programs and events including: The Christmas Rush Indoor Meet, the Union College Track and Field Clinic, The Bijou Mile, The Region I Junior Olympics and The Eddy Meet.
Since 1986 Ebbets has written a monthly health/running related column for the Hudson-Mohawk Road Runner’s Club Pacesetter Magazine, “Off The Road.â€Â
