Where's the justice in that?

yeah im with you. thats just ridiculous. you have 20+ girls out there all wanting the same thing, and one that says no... not cool

I guess she thinks she has a better chance to place top three. Chances of that actually helping her are probably slim. I agree with you guys, though, it is ridiculous.

Start time is 12:30 (so shortly)

It is barely raining, I might try bringing the laptop out.

I think that’s great. She didn’t want to take the easy way out. Too many vaulter are caught up on the conditions ie wind. Everyone has to jump in the same conditions. Just jump. Two thumps up to her.

Well they said 12:30, but they are still warming up *shrug*

Whenever the girls are ready I guess. They had better hurry though, there is more rain on the way (probably)

while that is true, these are meets where everyone is peaked and ready to jump high. so why not give them the best conditions possible and let them have fun

USATF has been known for pretending to give the girls options when they really don't have any. It is entirely possible that they were never going to let them turn the pit around *shrug*

As you all know too well, unfortunately MANY big meets end up having crappy conditions. That's one reason I feel so good about how Jenn jumped in Europe last year and even at home this year. She's tough that way as is Stacy. Sorry to hear about her exit. Bubba

I agree. And not that this is likely to happen today, but even at the elite level, it seems like athletes running into headwinds seem to come up short more often. I don't know if it is purely pole selection or failure to adjust to conditions, but I feel like if there is an option to switch the pit away from a headwind, it should be switched. It's better for the crowd to, as the likelihood of a better performance is greater with the tailwind.

I just talked to Stacy and she said she got an MRI on Wednesday and it found a small tear on her left (good) achilles. She is going to weigh her options and do whatever gets her ready for next year.

The radar shows more rain to be likely on the way.

My prediction is we get through the first height and then we have more delays.

She has had a rough time the last couple of years. I'm sure she is pretty disappointed with how this turned out.
