Joining him will be pole-vaulting phenom Jordan Scott of Oconee County. The reigning all-classification state champion is the top-ranked pole vaulter in the country and in Georgia.
After a subpar outing at the Georgia Coaches Invitational at Georgia Tech last week when he jumped a modest 14-6 due to illness, Scott soared to a vault of 16-7 on Wednesday during a quad meet at Oconee County. He attempted 16-10, but nicked the bar.
Save for Scott, no high school pole vaulter in Georgia has ever vaulted higher.
"I finally got it back," he said Thursday. "I hope that wasn't just a one-time thing. It gave me a big boost. I've got a lot of confidence right now."
