I'm looking for a couple of indoor meets within 8 hours of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We don't have a indoor season in Mississippi, so we must travel in order to compete. So far, I have LSU scheduled. Any others?

U of Houston will have several. That should be within 8 hours I would think depending on where you're at.

Houston is about 6 hours away. That might work for us. Thanks.

McNeese should have one or two also. Florida and Auburn both have indoor facilities. I dunno if they have high school comps or not.

Clemson has a pretty good meet usually at the end of Jan. It looks to be exactly 8 hrs.

The Clemson Meet last year needed to be registered as a high school team in order for the athlete to compete. We were able to register our girl vaulters as a team and also under GHSA rules, but could not get our boys team in due to practice start date rules under GHSA. Mainly a timing issue of the meet and GHSA boys start date. Check your state rules first for this meet. It is a good early meet and the girls competition was fun and competitive. Facilities are fantastic and Clemson has a great campus for the kids to tour. Can't say anything about boys as we did not compete.................Good luck. We have the same problem in Georgia as GHSA does not recognize indoor as a sport. Sucks when all states surrounding us do. Hurts the kids!!!!!!!!!

Oddly enough, Mississippi does have a indoor season. Just no meets.
Our coach hand picks a few kids and takes them to LSU and that is our official indoor season. I would be willing to drive my son to Georgia for a meet but I don't think the school would be willing to send a team.

The University of Arkansas hosts a club meet each year that showcases some great talent nationwide. January 12th is the date this year. The college meet is Friday night and the high school meet is on Saturday. Not sure of the drive from your location, but it is an excellent meet! We love it!
The registration is through
www.flashresults.com. Registration usually begins a few weeks before the meet. Hope to see you there.

Our high school would not send a team to any indoor meets either since we (Georgia) do not have an indoor season. But GHSA allows each high school team (boys and girls) one indoor meet per season per team. We talked our A.D. into allowing us to utilize the high school team and uniform to send 2 girl vaulters to the Clemson meet as our allowed one indoor meet. It paid off as she brought home to the school their second state girls pole vault championship later in the year. The parents paid for the trip and entry fees out of their pocket so it did not effect the team budget. No other kids attended although a few had interest. You need to check with your state rules and keep your son as well as the school in good graces, especially if he plans on competing in college. Most A.D.'s will work with kids and parents on these issues as long as it is well within the rules.
I have not seen any info on this year's Clemson high school meet yet but it usually coincides with their mutli meet in late January. The KTC high school meet usually held at UT Knoxville just got changed to ETSU and will run along with the Noswinger (sp) colege meet. That should be a great event but would add a few more hours travel. He would get to see some good college vaulters at that meet as it is a very well attended meet.
Good luck and I hope you get to vault. Breaks up the 3 months of cold weather here in the south. Nothing like helping the kids who want to excell...........................

For pvdad81 and other interested high school T&F athletes. Looks as though something may be in the works for several indoor meets in Alabama in January and February. These appear to be USATF meets but you should still check your high school associations rules to keep clean, Keep checking the Alabama web site for updates. I know quite a few of Georgias athletes will attend if this goes thru. Keep on vaulting........
