Compton College all Comers 1-16 & 1-23

This is an excellent place to vault. Nice facilities, experienced officials, and a good tail wind. I guess there was a high school athlete that jumped before I arrived who had a 1 hour private lesson from a D1 coach and a former elite vaulter. The runway is down hill. Here is the link:

Damn! It's great to see track come back to Compton!

I was raised in Gardena.

Just a heads up, the Gahr HS All-Comers did not have the polevault last time. You might want to check before you head to that meet.

vaultmd, a lot of excellent polevaulters come from the area. I was at a summer all comers at Gardena HS in 1975 and a guy showed up and casually jumped 16 feet. I was too shy to jump then (my dad ran the mile). I hope they bring back the summer all comer meets to this area in the future.

That might even have been a Gardena dude, Willie Vaughn, who had a best of 15'6" during the year; but guys would come from all over to jump at our place.

I graduated in 1974. We were LA Section Champions without winning a single event at the section finals.
