No, it didn't have anything to do with my pole vaulting, but the young lady I married on August 26, 1972 is still with me today. Now that's what I call perseverance. Jodi has been with me through the full range of emotions that life can hand out, and now she provides me the support and encouragement to take this pole vaulting activity head on. She doesn't attend all my practices, nor all my competitions, but without her support it would be very hard to be as involved as I am in vaulting.
This is a big thank you to my lovely wife Jodi. I also extend a thank you to all the other spouses that help make it possible for all of us in the vaulting community to participate in this sport.
