The 2005 Masters Female Athlete of the Year, O'Connor won the W65 pole vault with a clearance of 2.89 meters/9 feet 5.75 inches on Friday. She then went on to break her second listed world record on Saturday, leaping 4.16m/13-6.75 in the W65 long jump. On Sunday, her time of 30.63 seconds also was a world record.

I was surprised, but very honored, by this award as I was in awe of some impressive performances from vaulters, as well as sprinters, jumpers and distance runners.
However, the best award was the support and kindness of other athletes. I want to thank every one who lent or offered to lend me poles. I tried to find one sprinkled with magical flying dust, but someone must have wiped it off or it got lost in transit.
