So, now that I am 41 years old ...
Wow! Thanks for all the replies! I didn't know there were other vaulters like me in NoVa.
I will most certainly be PMing those who requested it. That meet on December 16 sounds cool. I'd love to get more details on that.
My wife sometimes tells me I'm crazy for thinking I can still do what I did as a teenager. It's nice to know there's a support network out there.

You may want to get hold of Charlie Brown as well. He's a lawyer down there now. If you were at the trials, you know him.
Wilson
vaultmd, thanks, but sorry, don't know or remember Mr. Brown. If he is in my area, any contact info would be appreciated. Did he compete or officiate in Eugene?
Edited: Ok, just checked the archives (dustiest box in garage) - CB wasn't on the competitors list - he must have been officiating? (sorry 27 years gets more than boxes dusty)
Bubba, thanks for the intro to Mike Hogan and subsequent lead - you rock!
Charlie Brown competed at UCLA 17’6â€Â

Look up the "old vaulter" profile on here. His email is on his profile. He actually has an indoor vault facility in San Diego for those 2 bad weather days a year.
"You have some interesting coaching theories that seem to have little potential."

OK, we had one yesterday, that's it till January

What happened, was it vault related?
Bubba PV wrote:Hey Dave. What Soar Like an Eagle didn't say was that he jumped 14' 7" in the M50 last year. Facing him (Bill Halverson), Charlie Brown and Mike Hogan in the same age group was a no win situation for me. Great guys and great friends though! Bubba
Man, that's some tough competition. I don't know if I'll ever be able to jump that high again, but I have "high" hopes. Right now I'm just the "Ice Man" - cause I have to wear so dang many ice packs every night!

OK Leap.........Go back and read my entry to this thread! Your responce to the 14' 7" jump is "messin' wit' your mind" and will take a lot of fun out of your comeback. It also will cause you to push yourself over the edge (remember....we all still have that 18 year old brain sittin' on top of our ancient shoulders). You absolutely can't forget that 60% - 65% percent deal I talk about. But when you do forget (as all of us have) and you get hurt (as all of us have) it will bring the point back home. The bottom line is, YOU'RE BACK. Enjoy every minute of it and accept what you are able to accomplish when you accomplish it as you accomplish it. Later..................Mike

In his defense (not that he needs it) Leap N Sky was in another area of the country at the time. I was in Texas and had met Cliff at NAIA Nationals and then he was killed the next year. Had I not met him I probably wouldn't have known either but a buddy in California (Tom Henderson @ Oxy) called me.
On another note, communication is so much better now than then – like PVP. I would have to wait for Track & Field News once a month to find out what was going on elsewhere. Bubba
