Anyone have masters results from Reno?

Unread postby TrackCEO » Sun Jan 21, 2007 4:55 am

I know all about geezervaulter Hartwig, but what's up with the others?

I know Nadine, Bud, Ed Oleata, Mike Hogan and some other San Diegans were set to compete, but I can't find results.

The official Web site is always days late in posting results.

If you know of any highlights, please share!

Thankee.

I know some records were attempted by some of the bigger guys, but I did not hear of any being set.

I think he was attempting a record. The crowd sure seemed to be behind it. Pretty sure he did not set any records though.

Both Paul Babbits and Gary Hunter jumped great and attempted new age group indoor records but were not successful. At 11:19 pm (this pit was considerably behind schedule) I took my last jump attempting my age group record but was also unsuccessful. The place was all but closed down. The runways and pits on each side were already half torn down. Thanks to vaultmd, a metal tape was retrieved and 3 officials were found for possible certification. But alas, to no avail. Also thanks to the other two remaining competitors who had to wait for this before they could also attempt the 3.92 height.

For Group 2 Masters men (competition # 60 , on pit 3), three of us jumped 3.80m but apparently I came out ahead on the "misses" tie-breaker rules.

The metal tape was up in my room. Since I was done officiating, I did not have it in the arena.

I discovered I can run pretty darn fast in Crocs.

Isn't this an issue every single year?

There needs to be a kit upstairs and one downstairs with all equipment needed for measuring records.

I think that would be a good idea. I've had to provide the metal tape measure late in the evening the past two years, and if it keeps up, it could be costly for me, because if the athlete sets the record, I give the tape measure to him/her as a memento.

I don't think the organizers think about this issue because they are used to doing regular meets, and the certified officials that work those meets pretty much always come prepared with the appropriate tape measure. At the Modesto Relays, if there are six certified offials assigned to the pole vault, it's not unusual to see six painter pole bar measuring devices on the infield.

For those "Masters Men" that jumped in group 2 or 3 at the Reno PV Summit, the results page http://www.polevaultsummit.com/2007Results1.html has an error in the html code that provides the links to the groups 2 and 3 results. The following will display what you are looking for.

For Masters Men 2 http://www.polevaultsummit.com/MastersMen2.htm
For Masters Men 3 http://www.polevaultsummit.com/MastersMen3.htm

Somehow they created the links with an xls extension on the url instead of htm. If anyone knows how to contact them so they can correct this, please forward this information to them.

I enjoyed seeing so many of my fellow masters vaulters at the summit. Take care until the next meet!
