POWER VAULTER VS SWING VAULTER!!!!!!!!

Unread postby 2-15-46 » Fri Aug 25, 2006 9:55 am

OK... I've been reading about power vaulter vs. swing vaulter.... trying to figure out my habits considering I'm an old steel jumper where swing was very important.... Ive seen drive knees up with trail leg swings and I've seen a near double leg swing..... in my quest to convert to a flexible pole I've had to get used to a wider hand grip, now which is best for swing to get verticle..............any thoughts???????

Hey Bob. I've always hear the classification of power vs. finesse vaulter. All vaulters are dependent upon a powerful swing but you can review videos at http://www.stabhochsprung.com/ and judge for yourself who looks more graceful and who looks more explosive. Bubka was an incredibly powerful vaulter and Tarasov was a highly skilled technical perfectionist who, though delivering huge amount of power, looks more graceful. Hope that makes some sense. Bubba
