I was just thinking to myself and wondering. Which vaulters made the biggest jump in heights from HS to College. Meaning, how many HS vaulters went into college with a low PR of like only 14-15/10-11 and ended up going like 18+/14+ in college. We all know about the amazing HS vaulters who were also amazing Collegient vaulters but what about those late bloomers. Can you think of anyone like this?

The only vaulters I can think of are Brian hunter and Jeff Hartwig. Although hartwig took even longer than college to get up there. Hunter went 15'6 in HS and ended up at 18'8 and a NCAA champion in College. Hartwig only went like 14'6 in HS, 17'8.5" in college(good but nothing spectacular). Any other vaulters with 3' differences or so?

I am sure there are lots of girls, especially a few years ago, who did not even start jumping until college.
OK here is a jump... Tamara Diles had a best of 12'0 in high school... she jumped 13'2.5" in her first ever college meet, some outdoor exhibition thing last December. Then in her next meet (Reno) she jumps 14'3.25"
That's not too shabby of a jump

This doesnt really fit the topic, but Bobby Most jumped 14'6 as a junior in HS but then 17'8 his senior year. Talk about finding some hidden talet over the summer geesh!

This is also kind of off the subject but Austin Landreth from OU came into college last year jumping 16' and ended up at 17'7 at the end of the year. That's a heck of an improvement in one year.

How many years did he vault in HS. If it was all four years, with his speed and strength he must of had some really bad coaching.

i think that scott huffman only jumped 14' in high school, and went on to jump like 18'6" or so in college..........................................
.he also has the push off record , he was only holding like 15'6" when he jumped 19'7"
not real sure but those are the numbers i have heard

this is a great example of how a guy thats smart with great speed can excel in the vault. Its a wonder why more sprinters that are fast but not fast enough to make it on the eliete scene dont try and take up pole vaulting.
