I'm a little biased, but i say Pooh Williams of Purdue. This guy is a stud. He's got all the tools to be a 19 footer and is just now figuring out how to "pole vault". He's got 18'+ written all over him. The poles he can wrap up from a short run in amazing. Once he figures out his top half of the vault.....watch out!

I agree with Ash, Pooh has the potential. Last weekend he jumped 5.41m(17'9") from about 114' using a 5m- 14.0 pole. On this jump he would have cleared 5.55m His inconsistency is how he gets off the top.

Pooh is a great guy. I think he will do very well at NC's. He had a jump or two at NYC that looked huge. I can't wait to get to Arkansas its going to be crazy.

hmmmmmmm.....underdogs.....I would have to say look out for trosclair. He could go big if he can hit one. Since I have no eligibility indoors I wont be there, and also I have not seen anyone jump yet. I did see BZ leave up 5.35 though. If he is sober at the meet he cold go big. I am also gunning for my buddies Teeple and Eshbach from nebraksa. I used to jump with Teeple in the frozen tundra of Michigan back in the day. He has came a long way since then.

Walker seems to be the obvious favorite
Ducunha could be tough
Danners is always a factor
Eshbach--see BZ comment
Trosclair
Steddum--just realized about a month ago that he is Carolina21. Hung out with him at the NCAA after party last year. Cool guy. Also pretty good story behind that little speal.
BZ
Paul Litchfield--he put up that one 5.50 mark, so he could sneak in there. As far as I know his second best mark is 5.20.

I think these people will be top 8. not necessarily in that order. Well see in a few weeks! Any picks on last ditch qualifiers? Betito Most doesnt have a qualifier yet, nor does my old roomie Buster Mclain. Time will tell

Brad, I've seen you walk, and you should ALWAYS use crutches, at a minimum on the weekends.
I think Poo has a good shot to jump high. That and I just like the guy. Brad has a shot to show up and jump really high, maybe even suprise some people, I've seen him take some "big ol'" jumps just about every time out, but....there are only a couple of weeks until the big show. I don't think his 5.30 is going to get in the meet so, in my opinion, he needs a better mark to get there. Plenty of time to rehab the ankle before nationals, but might be cutting it close on a qualifying mark. If he is there, he'll be hard to beat.

Just some info that You all NEED! The IAAF is meeting shortly to discuss some "technical" track and field items, including the shortening of the pegs. Becca should have a post up including the e-mail address to send your thoughts directly to them, courtesy of Earl Bell. Some of you may have already recieved an e-mail regarding this from us. Please send them a note to let them know we are not in favor of the new rule.
Thank-x

Dub,

Is this in response to the current rule, or are they talking about shortening them even more than they already have?

I wrote them a note, I think everyone who is in the sport should let them know this may not be the best idea. It will effect all of us in one way or another.
