Does anybody know of any colleges that have a decent pole vault coach that would give a 17footer any money? Im having trouble finding schools to go to I've talked to Nebraska, Alabama, Michigan State, OU, and Wichita State as far as major colleges but Im not sure any of them would give any scholarship. Im planning to jump 17ft and I can throw the Jav. 180ft Brandon will definately jump 17ft and is a 6500+ decathelete.

Planning and doing are two different things. Put up some 17'+ marks first and some money (not nearly as much as you think though for a one-eventer) may magically free up.

if i recall... bama doesn't really offer it up to much less than elite foreigners. but once you get there and excel, the money may come. that's how most SEC programs work.

Thats what Im saying all of those schools want me to either walk on or they will give me books, wich doesnt cover much. And I know I have to jump 17 first and not talk about it. I want to know if there is any where even small maybe a DII or DIII where I could get good coaching without selling an arm and leg!

Harvey, bamas coach said he would give us books if we were to jump good and do well in our other events, he talked to us because he chasing our stud ditance man from Kenya, I dont think we can make it into Michigan State academically talked to their coach this morning and he said their Education program was #1.

You're going to have a hard time of it if you are not getting great grades. The new NCAA rules about making progress toward a degree make it harder to transfer out of a JC. Most schools do not want to spend money on a kid who might have academic eligibilty issues, or might not be able to make the grades at a top school.

I know here in AZ, we have two juco's that come to mind that have really good coaches. First, Paradise Valley Community College consistantly has a good program, with guys over 16'+ every year and girls over 12+ every year. The coach there is Todd Lehman, who is an excellent coach, and works very closely with Greg Hull at sky athletics. The other that I would suggest would be Glendale Community College. They are newer to having a vault program, but the coach is my highschool coach, and father of 2000 olympic gold medalist nick hysong. He is also an excellent coach. Either of these schools would e somewhere good to vault, cause no matter where you go in az, you can always find a knowledable coach nearby, and it's definitely a great place to be for vaulting (of course in my opinion, lol),but neither of these schools would cost you an arm or a leg, and as for scholarships, you'd have to contact them, because id ont know anything about it.

Its noy that my grades are bad its that Michigan States Education program is #1 in the nation and you have to have a 3.5 or higher to be considered!

Wacky274 yeah I know about Paradise Valley and Mesa they were my comp last year at Juco nationals and I will be jumping against them this year. Im already in Juco and im looking for somewhere to go.

Last year with a croos country coach I jumped 16-3 and Brandon jumped 16-6. We trained very hard this summer with Tim McMicheals who helped us alot! We have Mark Phillips as a head coach this year who is a pole vault coach. Call me crazy but I think me and Brandon can both go 17+. If not we suck!!!

yeah, thats what our coach says. but its still all foreigners with money. even when they arent performing all that well. it sux.
