WOW! Major upset here as last year's indoor and outdoor champ Duane Chappell of Lewis was unable to clear his opening height of 4.70m 15'05.00". #2 seed Seth Isringhausen was more than happy to take his place atop the medal stand and man he did it the hard way with three third attempt clearances. JR Skola PR'd by two inches to grab second while Minnesota-Mankato's Andrew Petersen managed 4.90m 16'00.75" for third. South Dakota soph Sam Pribyl snuck over the same height for fourth while Chappel's teammate Mark Zilch managed to score some points for Lewis while taking 5th.
