Fly away poles ,or a local carrier,R&L,UPS,ect. Either way it will cost you a nice chunk of change, what ever you do ship them in shipping tubes and buy insurance

Yup, that would be the best place if you want it done professionally. (but it is correct that it is not cheap) They have talked about the service on here and many folks use them going to national meets, etc where you have to get a pole form point A to B. Here is the link http://www.flyawaypoles.com/

I've had good luck with R+L Carriers. If you ship from terminal to terminal it is less expensive. None of the commercial delivery services will ship poles.
May the Force be with you!

There was a time when you could ship them by Greyhound bus!
Don't know if they still do that. You have to go to the station to pick it up and it takes a while for the bus to get it there but it worked.

Try putting an ad in the nearest major university craigslist - as many students are heading home - you may be able to pay a student $50 to strap them on - if they are going that way already, they can make a little extra cash ...

At one point, southwest airlines did some transporting as well (if I remember correctly). I'm not sure if they are still an option or not.

Southwest is very reasonable if you are flying with poles. One of the few airlines who will still carry them.

You can ship them via Southwest Cargo for a very reasonable price as well, but you need to be a TSA "known shipper". If you are not a known shipper, you'll have to pay to become one, and that is where is got expensive for me - it is based on how far you are from the nearest SWA airport for the interviewer to come visit you. http://www.swacargo.com/swacargo/home.htm
