We happened to catch Allie's pole break this past Sunday on video. Thought you guys might enjoy seeing it. The pole tip took off like a rocket and landed on top of one of the steel beams about 40 to 50 ft off the ground. I told her I was not worried about the pole... but she needed to get my tip back.

The video link is on my new homepage at
www.RSPVSports.com Enjoy!

thats weird... i get the feeling she was over the weight of the pole. Because it doesnt bend too much initially.... but after the swing it just didnt unbend. Thats pretty crazy.... creepy sound when it breaks... sounds like the pole hitting her in the back of the head even tho it doesnt.

Allie was most definitely not over the weight of the pole. The pole was about 10 lbs over her weight and she was gripping about a foot down, for about a 30 lb difference. The pole probably had a nick in it since it only broke in one place. She has an awesome swing. She has jumped 12' gripping at 11' 6", with a 14" clearance over grip. We are just now moving her grip up since she is doing so well off of the ground. She moved to a 13' 135 Mystic Carbon on the next jump and had good height on a 12' 5" bungee. As her grip goes up the 14" clearance over grip will go up as well. Allie is only 15 years old.

Oh yeah, the pole did hit her in the head. You can hear a crack and then a clunk. That must have been when it hit her. LOL She is OK though.

A few people have been having difficulties opening the video. I have no clue why it would not work but will check on it. If you could not open it email me and I will send the clip to you.

There must of been a nick in the pole. It didn't appear as though she overloaded it. I always hate to see one break. Especially when I have to pay to replace it.

Unless I'm mistaken "dumping on the pole" will only make it smell bad.

  LOL

lol wow, yes you are probably correct. Thats what i do to my big competition before a state meet, kind of discourages them.
