A sweet Idea for a national meet!!

Unread postby Azbeachboy1 » Thu Oct 03, 2002 10:42 pm

How sweet of a national meet would this be?

For the pole vault, have a national meet where each state gets to bring 3 or there best guy vaulters, and three of there best girl vaulters. They could have two seperate competitions, one for the guys, and one for the girls. Whichever state has the highest combined heights of the 3 vaulters wins, 2 highest combined gets 2 and 3rd and so on and so forth. Same competition for the girls. Or if you really wanted to see which state was the best in the vault, you could add up 3 guys and 3 girls hrights all together to see which state has the heighest six vaulters. Come to think of it, which sates would be the top 3 in a competition like this one?

Ok I was really bored tonight and I put together a list of every state with at least 3 15' vaulters. I also added them up to see what they would get. I got my info from dyestat, last years list so some of these athletes have graduated, but just imagine that this meet was last year and everyone hit their pr's this is what it look like:

1)CA: 49'6", 17' 0 Landers, Mike/ 16' 6 Moore, David/ 16'0 Murphy , David

2)TX: 49', 16' 6 Kennedy, Sean/ 16' 3 Terry, Drew/ 16' 3 Settles, Brad

3)WA: 48"7', 17' 1 Byers, Tyson/ 16' 0 Dormaier, Eric/ 15' 6 Merritt, Matthew

4)OR: 48'6.5", 17' 7.5 Skipper, Tommy/ 15' 6 Trump, Jordan/ 15' 5 Banton, Matt

5)SC: 48'6" , 16' 8 Shealy, Chase/16' 4 Johnson, Mark/ 15' 6 Greeley, Mitch

6)FL: 47'11.25", 16' 5.25 Pellegrino, Danny/ 16' 0 Miller, Jon/ 15' 6 Gaddis, Stephen

7)IN: 47'11", 16' 10 Scotten, Ray/ 16' 0 Stead, David/ 15' 1 Schipper, Ryan

8)AZ: 47'4", 16' Dolk, Steven/15'9 Glenn, Brandon/15'7 Zimnisky, Adam

9)MI: 47'3", 16'5 Gebauer, Brad/15' 6 Langlois, Mark/ 15' 4 Jones, David

10)VA: 47'1", 16' 4 Sullivan, David/ 15' 9 Garrett, Daniel/ 15' 0 Odom, Wayne

11)OH: 46'9", 15' 9 Beamer, Chad/ 15' 9 Russell, John/ 15' 3 Kuhner, Jake

12)KS: 46'8.5", 15' 7 Allred, Bret/ 15' 7 Williams, Jacob/ 15' 6.5 Watts, Marcus

13)PA: 46'3", 15' 5 Bingaman, Adam/ 15' 5 Rademacher, Andrew/ 15' 5 Dunn, Kurt

Just a side note, these are only the states with at least 3 guys above 15'. If you see any mistakes I made just write it in your comment.

Oh, just wait, Arizona is definetely going to be in the top 5 next year. We'll have 2 guys over 16' 6" and probably a couple guys over 15. That'd put us in the 48 + foot range.......just wait. And as for girls, two girls over 13 next year, that's gonna be killer.
Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill. - Muhammad Ali

Sometimes competitions on paper are more fun... everyone can come, does well, and no one gets hurt :P
