USA Junior Championships Standard Lowered to 3.85/12-7.50

The qualifying standard for the women's pole vault at the USA Junior
Championships has been lowered to 3.85/12-7.5.

If you can help publicize this, I would be very grateful! Sorry about the
late notice.

How many girls who now qualified can afford the VERY last minute plane tickets to get there? :confused:

Maybe some of the local CA girls will be able to go, but that's about it.

They might be able to get their field of 3 up to about 7 :no:

Yeah I know. I pointed that out to the guy who sent me the email and he said
We have been fighting for the past couple years to have a reasonable
standard for this event, but have been stymied. I think this year was the
last straw (so to speak). In the future, I think we will see a more
reasonable standard (3.80 or 3.85).


I mentioned it to Bill Roe tonight (president of USATF) and he told me to tell him what the standard should be and he would make sure it happened next year.

I think 3.80 would be better. :yes: Just a more logical progression for the females to clear. But ladies answer this...Wouldn't most girls go after 12' 6" then bump it up? That would make the 3.80 work. At 3.85 all of the 12' 6" girls would be out of luck. There are currently 7 girls on Dyestat at 12' 6".

uhh, I see 19, and I know this list is out of date AND wrong (I know of 2 that should be in there, and arent). And this is HS only! Imagine how many freshmens in college have made 12'6"

How about just take the top 12-16? This way you don't have to worry about a qualifying mark.
