Port Huron Northern's Mackenzie Shell sets state record in pole vault
SAGINAW — Port Huron Northern junior Mackenzie Shell set the girls state high school record for the pole vault Wednesday, clearing 12 feet, 10 ½ inches at Saginaw Valley State.
Shell won the event at the indoor meet, and broke the record which was previously held by Marine City graduate Tori Wesley (12-9 ½).
On Sunday, Shell tied for sixth at the New Balance Nationals, and in February she won an indoor state title.
