I was lucky to be there to witness it today. Tiffany, her team member at Suhr, also had a great day, with a 13'5" jump. Awesome runway speed. Looked to me like a 14' Mystic carbon at 160 pounds and holding about 6" from the top.
It is worth mentioning that Pole Vault Power member Chelo Canino held the previous record at the Dartmouth facility. Chelo neglected to mention this in her post announcing the record.

Chelo, that is what was broadcast by the PA announcer after Mary made the record!
Mary's chase of the record basically stopped the meet. The PV runway at Dartmouth's indoor facility is in the infield adjacent to the backstretch. For most of the girl's vaulting event, the runners were doing sprint hurdles down the stretch, so the backstretch wasn't being used, and open to spectators.
However, the officials tried to start the 400's about the same time Mary and Tiffany were attempting the 13'5" height, but so many spectators were crowding around the backstretch that the officials couldn't clear the outside lane. After some futile attempts to clear the backstretch, the officials stopped trying. Virtually all eyes inside the fieldhouse were on these two girls, and then on Mary.
The girl's long jump continued on the runway next to the PV runway, but that was about it until Mary stopped jumping.
Speaking of long jump, the girl's LJ finals were held shortly after the girl's PV event ended. And Mary finished second.
I'm sure someone with better eyes and use of words than I will report the details of the event in a later post, but I'm happy to report the way the event captured the crowd.
