I know for swimming and diving they have specific times/scores that qualify you for all-american. I was wondering about PV.

in high school it is declared by different organizations. The most prestigous all american awards are USATF and Track and Field News. Track and Field News picks the top 5 in America based on consistency and big meet performance (i.e. Golden West, State Meets, Addidas Outdoor, and Junior Nationals). They don't really care about marks from smaller meets. USATF declares Junior All Americans, as in under 20. This also includes many college freshman. You must place top 6 at Junior Nationals to qulaify for this. Other organizations like AAU declare all americans but those are much less prestigous.

I was All American indoors and outdoors, but it was really just based on placing in a meet.
2nd at Indoor National Scholastic (no NIKE indor classic back then)
2nd at Outdoor National Scholastic
5th at Golden West
5th at Junior USATF
wasn't ranked by TFN tho
