Lost in the shuffle a bit was a new world best for 14-year-olds by Albert Velez of Spain with 4.75 (15-07.50). The old record of 4.72 (15-06) was held jointly by 3 athletes: Kelly Stephens (USA), Christian Linskey (GBR) and some japanese kid.

Shouldn't that be "Kelly Stephens (Republic of Texas)"?

Hope life is treating you well, Shawn.

Women's Results

Unread postby vaultfan » Sun Jul 13, 2003 8:11 pm

Wow! The gals sure had a knock down, drag out competition today. At 4.00 (13-1.5), three vaulters set personal bests to clear the height, while the number 1 and 2 seeds both missed their first two attempts. Lisa Ryshich, GER, and Jirina Ptacnolpva. CZE both passed their third attempt and Lisa cleared 4.05 (13-3.5) with her only shot at that height for the win. What a gutsy performance by the 14-year old Lisa Ryshich!!

Results for the competion are at

Man I watched CBUT's two hours of coverage of this meet on Saturday but not a second of the PV. Saw all the running events, LJ, TJ, DT, HT but no PV.

Rock climber extraordinaire Tori Allen cleared 11-9.75 in windy, wet conditions to take tenth in the women's pole vault, two places ahead of teammate Jessica Trujillo, who was 12th with a leap of 11-5.75.

I had a good time in Sherbrooke, It was a lot of fun. I was happy to come home though, There were alot of good looking girls there. In Canada in general and from the other countries. International competion is something else! I wasn't to happy with my performance because I had such close attempts to a PR. but there was plenty of things to do there, There was a pool with a 5m high dive, that was cool, The Belarus girls were there. It was a privlage to be in the meet, and to get the USA uniforms. USATF rules.
