i dont think your wrong...i know your wrong...scott had a much better attempt at 17-7 and i think that you are understating his ablility to jump! moving back a stride...isnt going to make or break his clearance...he has got it! go take a look at the video from reno..the only thing that touched was his wrist!
You have got to love sometimes, what there only is to hate
J. Scott or Scott R?
I beleive that Nitro was talking about Jordon Scott, not Scott Roth.
I was also at the event in Reno to witness the jumps. Scott R. was over 17' 7" on his 2nd attempt and brushed the bar off with his hand. J. Scott did not have any good attempts that day IMO, but is capable of making the height and higher.

For Jordon Scott to be able to hold a 5m pole where he is, is quite an accomplishment. If Spencer M. could hold that high, he probably could be the next world record holder.
Yes they are not much above his (Jordon Scott)weight for now, but I know they will continue to go down in flex as his speed and technique improves. I intended for Scott (Roth) to be on 5m poles this year but we are going to try to improve his swing and top end first. I think he can go 18+ on the 490 poles if he cleans up those two things.
Once Jordon is able to penetrate with that grip and 10 to 15lbs stiffer flex, I am certain he will be in the 18+ range.

Well, Jordan had to borrow poles. He didn't have the right ones for his 17'7 attempts, but his attempts were very good also. Both Scott and Jordan are very talented, and they will both hit much higher marks this year, no doubt.
It was great fun watching all of those guys jump in Reno, they did a great job!

After watching these guys (Roth, Scott, McCorkel) jump in Reno, I feel certain they will all crack the 18' barrier this year. There were several outstanding vaulters in that division that will post some huge heights this year. Best overall high school competition I've ever witnessed.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say Spencer's probably not going to be using any 5 meter sticks this year, but he did hold 15ish in a meet this weekend on some longer poles and made 17-0 by a good foot (no Japenese scientists to anaylyse it and confirm though). His timing was off quite a bit, but it was a great learning process for both of us.
