Please note that the Women’s PV Standard has recently been lowered to 12-11.5 (from 13-5.25).

And this would be a list of women who would possibly meet this standard:

13-08.25 Stacie Manual, Arkansas University

13-06.25 Chelsea Johnson, UCLA

13-04.25 Kira Costa, California

13-3 Julene Bailey, Idaho

13-3 Jenny Green, Nebraska

13-02.75 Samantha Shepard, Stanford University

13-01.50 Rachael Viau, Oral Roberts University

13-02.50 Jessica Graff, Georgia Tech University

13-0.25 Anna McFarlane, MA

12-11.5 Stevie Marshalek, WA

At this time, only Costa, Bailey, Green and Graff are shown to have qualified for this meet on the USATF website.

DOGGONNIT!!!! This lowered standard is still UNREASONABLY high and the meet is less than three weeks away!!

Too little too late

Unread postby jmayesvaultmom » Sun Jun 01, 2003 11:27 pm

Too little too late....months ago I emailed them because I thought it was surely a typo...they said no...I told them that at that qualifying height they would have only had 2 vaulters last year--Chelsea Johnson and Lacy Janson. I also pointed out that that height was only 2.75 inches below the NATIONAL record for hs girls. They have sent Jodie 2 personlized embossed invitations to the meet within the last month. When I called they said she still had to jump 13'5.25" and that opening height would probably be close to 13'.... Now they start droppping it with it so close that people have probably already missed out on good airfare etc.
That's Jodie!!

A scripture that makes me think of all you girls and guys pole vaulting....

Habakkuk 3:19
The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to go on the heights.

right now there are 8 guys signed up for the meet. I imagine there will be about 15-20 by the time the meet comes around.

On another note, the girls qualifying height got lowered to 12'11.5".

Women Pole Vault Junior

Unread postby vaultfan » Fri Jun 20, 2003 2:10 pm

The progression for the Junior Women is 3.80/3.95/4.05/4.15/4.20. Start time is 6:10 P.M. The Palo Alto forecast for 6:00 P.M. tomorrow is 69 degrees, 0% precipitation, and wind from the west at 18 mph during the day, 15 mph during the evening. Wonder if that wind from the west will be a TAIL wind. If so, we might have a shot of having two or three girls SHARING a HS National Record of 4.20 or 13-09.25! :D

Who would you pick to jump 4.20 besides Kira?

Tail wind at stanford!?!? Unheard of! However I will keep my fingers crossed because us junior guys jump at the same time as the girls. They're running two pits adjacent to one another. However, if its a 15 MPH wind its probably gonna be coming directly at us from the left. Might be one of those days where the truly toughest competitors comes out on top.

It might be one heck of a competition!
