Lifting 2 days before a meet

Hello,
So I have my state championship this coming Thursday. Tomorrow is going to be my last vaulting practice and I usually like to lift on vaulting days. Would lifting on tuesday hinder my performance on Thursday though?
Thanks

Bottom arm confusion

So this video is from my second practice of the season. Throughout the past 2 seasons, I have really struggled on penetrating into the pit. Unless I am on a tiny pole it doesn't happen. I have been trying to fix the bottom half of my jump for a while now. First off, I think I may be over-striding, b...

How to stay behind the pole? (With Video)

So I have been vaulting for 2 years. Right now I feel like I have good form on the top end of my jump but what is killing me is my inability to jump on larger poles. It is for this reason that I have been trying to improve my takeoff. The major flaw I have is that I don't stay behind the pole, and t...

Re: Critique my 2nd to last practice before states

So I ended up jumping badly at my state meet so my season is over. However, with a long time now to work, I have decided to completely revamp my takeoff. Here is my latest video where I am focusing solely on pressing more with my arms, and having a legitimate drive phase. As you can see I just natur...

Critique my 2nd to last practice before states

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rpm5adDIoJI The videos are all in full speed and then half speed so they are all repeated. So here are some basic stats weight:138 Height:5'9 pole:13'7 140 UCS gripping at 13'(except for 2 warm up jumps at beginning and one jump on a 14 135) Run from 5 lefts at 64'10 b...

Getting into College. Any chance for me??

So I have recently begun looking for which college I want to go to. I know that I do not have a chance at earning a scholarship, but would love to vault at college and hope that my vaulting ability could give me a boost in the application process. I'll start by explaining about my jumps. I am a juni...

Re: 4 Step Vs. 5 Step

I feel like my run is definitely getting more controlled, but it is not perfect yet. When I was trying to run full speed, I felt like I had to really push myself and it was not completely comfortable. I think that is what had been holding me back. I was running at a fast but comfortable pace, which ...

Re: 4 Step Vs. 5 Step

So I managed to get a good camera today and had a really productive practice. I realized that what has really been my fatal flaw has just been a lack of speed on the runway. While I still have many errors with my takeoff (Such as being perpetually under which I think is caused by a stretching of the...

4 Step Vs. 5 Step

Right now I am trying to progress back from a 4 left to a longer full approach. Right now I am on a 5 left approach that I run from about 64'. I am using a 13'7 140 pole and I weigh about 139. I am holding down on the pole. I have been trying to work on my takeoff and really pressing into the pole a...

Pole Vault Pits Shut Down For Safety Reasons????

At my school the board of education has shut down our pole vault pits. This decision did have some aspects of politics as they want to redo the entire track so making it seem unsafe increases their ability to get money grants. However I have found that all of their complaints are not merited and our...

Transitioning into a longer run

For the past long while I have been jumping from 3-4 lefts and working a lot on my swing, inversion and top end. However I have not been pole vaulting for that long so I never truly had a well developed larger step. I want to move my step back this season so I can hold higher, get on bigger poles, g...

Re: Need constructive criticism on 14' jump, please.

The bottom half of your jump looks pretty good. However its the very top of your jumps where you are losing height. when you begin pulling with the top arm and rotating as you prepare to go over the bar you are not keeping the momentum directed upwards for as long as you should. It is hard to explai...
