Re: Inconsistent vaults and top arm trouble.
It's hard to fix it my takeoff because it feels natural to takeoff under but what can I do to help get a natural feel for taking off on my mark? I can easily do it when vaulting from 3 lefts or less but once I am going from 5,6,7 it is a lot harder to avoid. It sounds like you're so used to taking ...

Re: Inconsistent vaults and top arm trouble.
I kept getting "stuck in the bucket" and i fixed a vigorous top arm row which was a habit that was hard to break. However, it's not completely fixed and I still have issues with my top arm. You're way under, and you're not driving your chest thru on takeoff. You're so far under that you'r...

Re: Critique and help my vault
You need to jump up more at the takeoff and focusing on driving the pole upward to create pole speed. It looks like you're so focused on setting your arms that all you do is bend the pole and let it pick you up off the ground. You can not stay behind the pole without making it move ahead of you, wh...

Re: Video Analysis of 16' 6" Miss
I have a habit of dropping my feet into a pike to early as I go over the bar instead of truly catching the fly away and keeping my legs up, any ideas on drills or what the thought process should be up top? Should I keep my core tight going over the bar until I have hit peak height and then pike? Ho...

Re: Video Analysis of 16' 6" Miss
I've definitely been working on my pole drop more this week as I am certain that is the cause of my leaning back on take off which I am sure is what is holding me back. Keep working on it. And don't expect instant results. But if you focus on keeping a forwards lean thru your entire run, then you'l...

Re: Video Analysis of 16' 6" Miss
I mostly agree with GasPasser's analysis. I agree that you should not go up a flex until you get better penetration with this pole, but I don't care (nearly as much as GasPasser) where your standards were set at - or if they were set "wrong". Any way you look at it, you're stalling, and yo...

Re: Staying behind the pole.
I have had a problem with collapsing that left arm and my coaches have been saying to keep it outwards, and when I watched clips of pros and elites, none of them have that arm collapsed, so I assumed I needed to keep it out. It's a common mistake made by many vaulters and coaches. It's even more co...

Re: Staying behind the pole.
I keep my right hand pressure and don't collapse my left hand until I am going upside down. There's your problem. You shouldn't worry about "staying behind the pole". Instead, you should focus on good (forwards-leaning) body posture on takeoff. And that will be impossible to do if you're ...

Re: College Freshman- Moving Forward??
... everything sorta clicked in a week training with a few clubs over the time span. I'm now eclipsing 13 feet, in the span of 6 months with a goal of 14'3 to qualify for indoor nationals. I think it's possible, but how should I go about this in regards to my progression? My goal is to get to 15'6 ...

Re: How/When to pull when inverted
Kirk, do not let my questioning of your theory be taken as ignoring your advice and criticism. I asked to be criticized and that is what you are doing. What do you mean by "theory"? More than 45 years ago, I vaulted higher than your PR using this technique. And that was with a Catapole 55...
