Re: USATF Junior Olympics expands qualifying

5 from each region instead of 3? What's the reasoning behind this rule change? The national meet always has about 25+ vaulters as it is. Don't get me wrong, it would be nice to give more athletes the chance to participate in the national meet, but having a meet that large really disadvantages the be...

Re: Morgann LeLeux of La. and Max Babits of Mi. Win Youth Titles

Re: How much should a coach be coaching during a competition?

Even if you "hear" and "remember" those 5-6 things at the end of the runway, you won't "remember" and "execute" them during your vault. That's expecting too much. That's INFORMATION OVERLOAD! oh I know I COMPLETELY agree with you. My new coah gives me like 2 ...

Re: How much should a coach be coaching during a competition?

from a vaulters perspective, I think that an athlete would have to be at a fairly elite level (college at least) before the coach becomes relatively obselete during competition. I think it is a good idea for coaches to steer inexperienced vaulters in the right direction during competition because ma...

Re: Foot Injury

I have been icing and that seems to help. ya i think podiatrist is the next step at this point-- i was just interested to see if any other polevaulters have experienced this. it seems like such a random injury

Okay so the past few weeks I've developed a really strange foot injury. The top of my feet hurt when I walk or run. The pain varies from day to day usually it's not too bad but some days it hurts like no other. It's mostly concentrated in my take off foot. I've had this problem before when I'm jumpi...

Re: tucking

Your takeoff is not good, placing you in a bad position for the swing. Consequentially, if you're in a bad position after the takeoff you can't swing properly and hence you have to tuck to get your legs up. This is usually a huge problem for people who take off under. Basically, you're tucking to c...

Re: tucking

if you have access to rings or a high bar, doing drills focusing on a drive knee and straight trail leg can help you when it actually comes time to vault. also practice short run or pop ups focusing on the straight leg. how you practice is how you will compete
