Hugging The Pole

I'm having trouble with holding the pole out in of front of me after I take off. Instead I pull the left arm in and hug the pole instead of pushing them both out in front of me. I think my brain can't get round the fact that you don't need to 'cling on' for dear life!! I guess if your top arm is pus...

Complete Training Program

As mentioned elsewhere on this site, I've decided to concentrate soley on the vault. I just wondered if anyone could suggest a full training program for the whole week which concentrates on the vault? At present I vault 3 times a week (2 of those sessions are only drills and not full vaults). I try ...

Yeah Last weekent at a league match I aborted a vault rather too late and skidded into the box and by heal wacked against the back of the box. I carried on vaulting but the following day and all week I've hardly been able to walk on it. Good thing is its getting better by the day. I guess try not to...

I compete on the masters scene in the UK and will be off to Slovenia in July for the European champs...

Complete Training Programm

Hi all Ok I've taken the plunge and i now want to dedicate my entire week/year to the vault. Can anyone suggest a weekly training program ? I'm vaulting 3 times a week but I guess i should spend the other days doing sprints, plylometrics & weights. I love to do a couple of steady 2/3 miles runs a...

Soft side down ?

Ok so when I put the tip of the pole on the ground and hold the other end, the pole swivels round so that the softside is pointing up and the pole is like a very, very flat U shape pointing towards the floor (imagination required here). So when I plant, should the soft side be pointing straight down ...

Work with right hand

Yeah that last drill that Vaultpurple mentioned - we do that a lot at the start of our sessions.

It gets you used to working the right arm plus help you focus on your trial leg
