Re: Critique my vault
Hi there, Sorry you've only gotten spam responses. :( A bit hard to tell with the guy blocking the take-off shot, but you look very under at take-off. Work on getting each step of your run mapped out, and this should help to deal with the problem. Look around here for dj's famous "midmark"...

Re: Analysis of Vault
Welcome to PVP! It seems like your running behind yourself - get your feet more directly underneath the center of gravity, which is shifted forward because of the pole's weight. Otherwise you can get out of control, which will lead to a late plant (and it did in this case). The late plant leads to b...

Re: What should I be doing for more explosiveness?
There's good news and bad news. Bad news - Working out, even really really hard, is not going to do that much for you within a year for your vault. EVEN IF you were hitting the take-off at 11 meters per second (which nobody does), you would probably not be able to hit over 14' or so. That's because ...

Re: Bending the pole and over bending the pole
RJ - Kirk's advice is (and "unadvice") is right on.
FWIW, without seeing video, this is usually a "good problem" to have. It's a sign you're doing some things well.
Don't get hung up on needing to clear x height by y date. Settle in for the long haul and you'll do better.

Re: Midmark question
Something's not right here. Maybe it is that it is a 5 step run (the chart is designed for 6L and up), but it doesn't seem moving back one left would bring the same step out 9 feet. At 12', it's probably time to move to a 6L run anyway though. Maybe Earl was adjusting for a 5L run, calling a differe...

Re: Pole Vault Progression
Love the enthusiasm, but it will be hard to achieve your goals without doing something each day. Make every day a PV day, and it will be a possibility. Time, energy, and mental effort put into other events will not be beneficial, unless you are interested in the decathlon (which is perhaps something...

Re: Midmark question
Sooooo... again... Which step are you calling your midmark? When you hit 32', which foot is it, and which step is it from the take off? Sorry if I was unclear.

Re: Lower back injury
Could be related to the piriformis and sciatic nerve. Massage is better than stretching in that case. Chiropractic is another possibility too. However, one stretch that might help is to lay on a bed with the hips off, legs down, feet off the ground, like you're sliding off. Then push the stomach up....

Re: Rocking back fully
That's one tall baker! Try using the search bar with words like "tuck," "rock back," and "shoot." The general consensus on this board at least is that this is an unhelpful way to approach the vault... It's all about the swing, no tuck! It seems antithetical to the probl...
