Yes, he is a high school junior at Southlake Carroll high school (just north of Dallas) in Texas. He cleared 17' today to win the 5A (largest classification) at the Texas state meet.

Big Jumps in Texas Regional Meets

Ty Barrington vaulted 17' 3 1/4" in the Region I-5A meet this weekend in Lubbock. He is a Junior from Southlake Carroll High School. This jump will place him at #8 all-time in Texas.

Brandon McFarling, a Senior from A&M Consolidated vaulted 16' 10" to win the Region II-5A meet in Waco.
