weather
this could be the worst spring weather in recent history. For me, at least, it makes going to practice a real bummer, knowing that we probably won't get to jump that much (we dont have an indoor facility). We end up doing core strength and conditioning, but what we really need are some jumps :) I fe...

mid marks
Will someone please post a link to the thread that has detailed instructions on how to take/ use mid-marks? I would like to implement this with my kids, but and exhaustive search of this site and the web only turns up the chart and arguements to use it.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

master, could you check the links for the vids? I would really like to see these vaults and show them to my athletes; what an inspiration.

just curious
Why is everyone arguing with a teen who is vaulting 13'? I am sorry to offend you, spike, but I just don't understand why you would think that any of your points are valid. Personal experience? Exactly how much of that do you have? Compared with the last 30 years of experience of the VAULTING WORLD ...

SEEKING 12'/13' - 150/160
Willing to trade for 12' 120 altius or pacer mystic. We have a few other poles that we have duplicates of as well. Let me know if you have an extra on of these and we can work something out.

I agree w/ soul man to some extent. I have seen kids do grass and sand pit vaults and then freeze when at the pit. I try to get them familiar with the pit by the end of the second week. Still, no jumps, or even lefts, unless they are progressing along nicely. Some kids have a knack. Most don't, and ...

Moral Dilemma
I have a lot of new vaulters this year, so that is good. What I am faced with is budget issues. Our track program is given a shoestring to operate on, and that is being generous. I have several vaulters who i do not have appropriate poles for (I think). I could have them jump on a stick that is rate...

good ideas
I re-read my post and I can see where it might have sounded a little cut-throat. My point was: from my experience, i get between 5-10 brand-new, never vaulted before kids who come try to vault. After they figure out that vaulting isn't laying on the mats between jumps all practice, they usually find...
