vaulting after biceps tendon tear

I would like to hear from anyone who might have torn their biceps vaulting, had it surgically repaired, then went back to vaulting.
I have completed the first 2 steps. And I will perform the third in about 12 months.

been there

When I was in hs in the 70's we had pole vault only meets during the winter. A pv coach at a local college would sponsor them. As far as your hs doing this, I think your best bet is to try and form a pv club and perhaps have your school become a usatf sponsor and have meets there. But now everything...

Training high school vaulters year round

I am a new coach, old vaulter from NJ. In the 70's we vaulted year round in the freezing NJ outdoors. We loved vaulting. Now I am in Florida and I will be entering my 2nd year as the vaulting coach at a high school. I have attempted many times to convince the athletic director to allow me to coach t...

I used to run 10 - 200 meter "runs" 2 days a week all year long, and I would run 2 miles on 2 other days of the week. I would not sprint as this can lead to pulled or strained hamstrings (hammys). I trained year round for 5 years, never changed. Lift on the 2 off days, one day nada. I only...

beginner vaulting

the first year, jus tget them used to vaulting and teach the 3 step split C. That's all you can hope for. They can vault on a steel pole and it won't make a difference. I straight poled 10'6" as a hs frosh. The next year I felt coordinated enough to try and bend the thing. People have straight ...

It all depends on your desire and ability. You speed doesn't matter either. What matters is your acceration at the box. When I was 5'8" and weighed 132, my coach put me on a 15'9" 165 pound pole. I was vaulting at 16'6". th e next week I was injured when I couldn't get my steps and la...

To the retards ( I apologize to the mentally handicapped )

200 meters / 19.32= 10.35m/sec

100meters/ 9.77=10.25m/sec

If you can't see that Michael has recorded the fastest time ever by a human on land, running on level ground, unaided by any device, then I do not think you should be allowed to attempt the pole vault.

training after college

I think it just comes down to desire. My last 2 years in hs I basically trained on my own. I ran golf courses on weekends and did hand stand pushup, leg raises and chin ups in my house. I went to the gym once a week. I college we were completely on our own except to vault for 2 hours, 2 nights a wee...

speed work

The old tried and true methods are what I recommend.

Legs raises from a verticle position ( on a dip bar or high bar)

200's, not 100's

LIght wieght training every other day, running every other day.

Protein bars such as nitro tech.

That's all folks!
