All of them you don't get upside down as much as you could. That's why you end up getting shot out at the top instead of up. It's also why you ended up coming off early on the last 14' jump, you had the height easily but just flipped back over too quick and your foot hit it.

I can agree with you on that one. I play volleyball, and vault (obviously) most of the time. I'm also the thrid best thrower on the team with a PR of 37, throwing at most 3 times per season. I'm 6'2" and really skinny, every season some of the freshmen laugh when I come up to the throwing coach and ...

Just toss in a few pickups and accelerators into your normal runs, they'll keep your speed muscles there and retain some speed. As to the X-C definately not, used to do it and stopped dropped 1.5s on my 100m, slows you down way too much. If you want to do a fall sport do volleyball, lots of jumping ...

Sprinting and throwing utilize the same kind of muscle fiber, fast twitch. So to tell you the truth it makes sense that he can do something like that. Maybe not the 52' which is a huge throw but all the same.

Check your plant. If your shoulders aren't in the right place when you plant then your bottom hand's shoulder can get pushed back behind the other shoulder, which shouldn't be happening. Actually quite the opposite should be happening. The pushing shoulder should be ahead of the swing shoulder. When...

I've been trying to fix the same thing that you are having problems with. You look at the bar. The vault is good, you load the pole and start the swing, you dont get competely inverted though, you shoot out forward and into the bar because you look at it. Don't look at the bar until the very end

A question for the upcoming summer off-season. How should a pole vaulter lift weights to best increase strength without making huge gains in bulk? If you've never lifted before you're going to gain bulk. If you have lifted before you wont gain as much bulk, possibly none. One of the keys to keeping...

If you're looking for something that'll help you up top you can always to handstands. They help a lot with balance. You might need a spotter (or a wall) at first. Once you get it down try shifting the weight over a single shoulder and doing it 1 handed. Helps a lot with the last part of the vault. T...

Fall/Summer Vaulting in Central New York

Does anyone know where there are vaulting facilities for fall and summer training? The closer to Syracuse the better. Thanks.
