Re: Open Practice in Sand Diego
Hey LAX PV, I am Freight Train's dad and Jim Curran uses the pit in our backyard for his camp. Jim has a fair number of poles, particularly for the H.S. boy or girl. His poles get 'hit & miss' as they go up to the bigger poles. My suggestion is to give him a call and he will let you know whay he...

Re: Pole Vault Scholarships
Unfortunately, the overall college loan situation is nearly as bad as the sub-prime mortgage debacle. There had been some serious misrepresentations made in the federal programs by some of the lenders, so things are not going well right now in the various programs. You specifically mention consolida...

I think everyone has to appreciate what Livin The Dream 2008 is attempting to pull off here. He already is more successful than Bubka was in his comeback attempt a few years ago. Of course, Bubka was a lot older then, which made his comeback seem pretty impossible (but after all he is Bubka). I thin...

Brian Hunter, 5.35m, 1st place Men's Open, 2008 Pole Vault Summitt isn't exactly what I would call a half-assed effort. It essentially beat half of the Elite vaulters and tied/bettered everyone of the so-called Emerging Elite. The guy obviously still has the right stuff. Whoever you are, I think I s...

DJ I’ve been trying to fully digest your ideas on run-up speed, step length and the whole pole efficiency discussion. In your post you say: [quote]“i think what this thread shows is that it is the swing that creates the height above the grip..(stiff poles don't throw you.. poles don't t...

As a follow-up question, I assume that the above chart is for M. Greene (and any other sprinter) carrying a pole or not, as long as they could achieve that speed, it should work. I understand that concept. But how do you measure the speed of a vaulter carrying a pole? The distances are so short and ...
