Re: Placement vs. Pressure
John Pennel from the videos I have watched looks like he takes off six to eight inches under his top hand leads with his chest lower arm comes in at the plant, probably because of the metal pole vaulting days, continues to apply aggressive pressure with his top hand swinging on the pole which allows...

Re: D'Encausse on ideal technique
If you understand science then you know that the laws of physics and or bio-mechanics cannot prove that a given style or model of technique is ideal. As a point of fact all "successful" vaulting technique ( even a beginner's ), must conform to the the laws of physics or the vault will end...

"You state the country's college system is under performing but I will argue against that right now. The system seems to be working just fine getting the athletes to the elite level." IMHO NOT to the elite level! To a very good level yes - but i would argue that they may be getting there ...

Re: Steve Hooker set to look abroad after splitting with coach
Personally, I would go with Earl Bell because of his success with all different type of athletes male and female over the years. If you look at the people who have thrived under his coaching and his fabulous pole vaulting career as an athlete it could be a perfect fit. This seems to be the season fo...

My hearts and prayers go out to the LeBrun family. Coach LeBrun was an excellent teacher, mentor and coach in all sports. I was told when he was teaching physical education in Helena he would teach pole vaulting in his classes as part of the many activities the students participated in. Coach LeBrun...

Re: Capital Perche Clermont-Ferrand France R. Lavillenie 5.92
The pole that broke probably had a ding in it from possibly hitting the standard or something. Poles will be stressed more by reaching taking off under, but chances are they will not break especially if it is 40lbs over your weight. If a pole gets a ding from falling against a standard and/or someth...
